How to make a Floppy Disk Planter

Posted on January 14, 2013 in DIY Garden

This is an easy way to decorate your room and add color, by upcycling old floppy disks, which are now useless.

What you will need:

  • Floppy disks
  • Hot Glue
  • Scissors
  • Plants

How to make it:

Heat up the glue and squeeze a thin line onto the edge of a disk and attach it to the second disk’s edge. Keep going until you’ve gone all the way around. For the bottom, glue four edges of your fifth disk and attach!

If you want to add soil and plant directly to the floppy disk planter that you just created, you should use a more secure sealing method or a plate to sit on for excess water flow. We propose to use it as a decorative planter and put in it your plant with its own plastic pot it comes in. If it does not fit, use scissors to cut off the rim. If you’re planting something from scratch, you can reuse an old yogurt container.

Optionally, you can use floppy disk labels to name your plants and to make notes about how to care for them.
